Teacher answer key

  1. Water. Water is the everyday drink. Plain milk is a good one too. The other drinks are for sometimes, if at all.
  2. 1 teaspoon. 4 grams is about 1 teaspoon. Divide the sugar grams by 4 and you have teaspoons.
  3. The Nutrition Facts, on the line that says Includes Added Sugars. Nutrition Facts tells the truth. The front of the bottle is an ad.
  4. 5. 20 divided by 4 is 5. That is 5 teaspoons of sugar in one drink.
  5. From the most to the least. The biggest ingredient comes first. If sugar is near the top, there is a lot of it.
  6. Dark yellow, like apple juice. Pale yellow is a good sign. Dark yellow usually means it is time for a drink of water.
  7. All of these. Water is a good idea any time. Kids get busy and forget, so sip with meals, after play and when it is hot.
  8. Corn syrup. Corn syrup, honey, cane juice, dextrose and many more names are all sugar. Check the first few ingredients.
